In sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing, ampoule washing is a critical upstream operation that directly affects product safety, inspection accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards. An Automatic Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine is designed to deliver consistent internal and external cleaning of ampoules in a continuous, controlled process.
This type of rotary washing system is widely adopted by injectable formulation plants operating within Great Britain’s established pharmaceutical manufacturing regions, including the Cambridge–Oxford life sciences corridor, production facilities in the Midlands, and large-scale sterile units supporting export markets from Northern England. Developed by Technogen Enterprise, the machine is engineered for reliability, hygiene, and long-term operation.
An Automatic Rotary Ampoule Washing Machine is a fully automatic, continuous-motion system used to clean both the internal and external surfaces of glass ampoules. The machine grips each ampoule securely at the neck, inverts it during washing, and releases it in an upright position after completion of all washing and drying stages.
This rotary configuration ensures uniform exposure to washing media, consistent cleaning results, and high throughput—making it ideal for pharmaceutical and injectable formulation plants.
Infeed and Orientation
Ampoules are fed into the machine via an infeed turntable and aligned for entry into the rotary washing section.
Neck Gripping and Inversion
A precision gripper system holds each ampoule by the neck and inverts it to allow effective internal washing.
Internal Washing Stages
The ampoules pass through multiple internal washing cycles using:
Recycled water
Purified water
WFI (Water for Injection)
Each wash is followed by sterile compressed air.
External Washing
External surfaces are cleaned using one water wash and one air wash.
Drying and Discharge
After washing, ampoules are dried and released vertically onto the outfeed star wheel for transfer to downstream equipment.
The entire washing process remains visible through the machine enclosure, allowing operator monitoring.
